Zhejiang Cancer Hospital was founded in October 1963. It is one of the four earliest cancer hospitals established. It integrates cancer prevention, medical treatment, scientific research, teaching, and rehabilitation. It undertakes the important task of national cancer prevention and treatment, and is responsible for cancer prevention and treatment in the country. China plays a leading role and has been ranked among the top ten best oncology specialists in China for 8 consecutive years. In May 2019, the Zhejiang Provincial People's Government and the Chinese Academy of Sciences signed a medical cooperation agreement, and the hospital was officially listed as "Institute of Oncology and Basic Medicine, Chinese Academy of Sciences, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences Affiliated Tumor Hospital, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences Hangzhou Medical College".

The single disease multidisciplinary comprehensive diagnosis and treatment (MDT) model covers common diseases, and the medical business volume ranks among the top in the country. Leading the construction of the National Oncology Regional Medical Center, and successfully selected into the National Diagnosis and Treatment Ability Improvement Project for Intractable Diseases. Oncology is a national key clinical specialty. The National Heavy Ion (Hangzhou) Clinical Treatment Research Center, a core project of the Chinese Academy of Sciences Cancer Precision Treatment Center, settled in our hospital.
